Size: 3cm long – 1¼ ins long
The compass set within the mango-shaped pendant always points east and thus to Mecca, so when worn the faithful would always know in which direction to pray. Mecca is central to Muslim life and obligatory pilgrimages ‘Hajj’ must be made by every free adult Muslim of sound mind that has sufficient funds to cover his journey and the expenses of his family during his absence.
