Fine old golden colour and smooth patina

These implements were made in the days of sail by whalers and used on board ship for smoothing the seams in canvas sails. The shaped end of the liner was pushed and pressed away from the user flattening the double line of waxed twin stitches into the canvas, making a row of ‘dead men’.
