Leonard Long , a member of the Royal Society of Art of New South Wales , was born in 1911 and grew up in Mittagong on the table lands of N.S.W . In 1934 he settled in Nowra with his wife and gradually developed his talent as an 'en plein air' landscape artist until in 1955 he sold his watch making business to become a professional artist .
