This exquisite 2nd century Roman ring, exemplifying the Guiraud Type 2 style, is adorned with a meticulously crafted garnet intaglio depicting Minerva, the goddess of wisdom, war, and the arts. The vibrant red gemstone is intricately engraved with the goddess’s profile, adorned with a crest-feathered helmet, within a seamless, oval gold bezel. 
     A comparable ring featuring a Jasper intaglio was sold at Christie’s, New York, December 10th, 2015 (lot 29).
