This exquisite casket can be seen on Alfred’s desk in the Red Room at Halton House, where he conducted his private business affairs while in residence. The Red Room, Alfred’s favoured colour, was reserved for some of his finest pieces from his collection, including furniture by Martin Carlin, Sèrves porcelain and a portrait of Lady Hamilton by George Romney.
