Size: 10cm long – 4 ins long
An infinite variety of wooden snuffboxes were made during the 18th and 19th centuries and hundreds of varieties of snuff were sold flavoured or perfumed with different scented oils. The snuffboxes that were carved as bellows allude to the sensation of ‘blowing away the dust’ or ‘blowing up a fire’ that was caused in the nose.
