The handle a carved cuffed and clenched fist grasping a snake with a later silver collar hallmarked London 1903.

Smooth old polished patina
Circa 1870 – 80
Size: 86.5cm long – 34 ins long
It is thought that the closed fist with a cuff at the wrist symbolises the friendship hand and that the scrimshander on board ship was carving a cane for use on land that would convey friendliness and good will.
