Combination knife pistols with folding blades were popular with Victorian gentlemen in England in the mid-19th century as a means of self-defence. They were often also used by sailors as protection when ashore in foreign ports. Made by Unwin & Rodgers of Sheffield they used black powder and were sold in various small Calibres.
