Containing an ivory ruler and a small pair of steel and silver dividers, the legs hinged at the top. The silver top of the case inscribed ‘Thos Keighly Engineer Cadet’

Size: 17cm long – 6¾ ins long
In the 18th Century craftsmen dedicated great care to their tools. They were an important indication of social role and demonstrated an individual’s skill and pride in his abilities and as such were often marked with the owners name.
