The God Osiris was the rival of his brother Seth, the embodiment of chaos. Killed in one of their battles, Osiris was brought back to life by his wife Isis who is said to have made the first mummy from the dismembered limbs of Osiris. Hovering over the dead Osiris in the form of a falcon or kite, Isis used her wings to breath life back into him and magically conceived her son Horus in the process.
