two attendant Saints
The pedestals etched with the names of each figure: St Philibert - Notre Dame - St Audoenus
Late 15th Century
Size: 38cm high, 39cm wide, 10cm deep – 15 ins high, 15¼ ins wide, 4 ins deep
St Philibert was an abbot and founder of Jumieges (608 AD – 685 AD)
St Audoenus (now known as Ouen) became the Bishop of Rouen in 641 AD (600 AD – 684 AD)
This small devotional sculpture was probably placed above a doorway or is perhaps from a small side chapel in a church.
