The gilt medallion opens to reveal 22 printed paper roundels that describe the French war in Spain together with the names of the officers involved and distinguished in the conflict. The first roundel reading: ‘Précis de la Guerre d’Espagne d’apres les rapports officials jusqu’a la deliverance du Roi Ferdinard’.
