Untitled 1986

Tjakamarra was of the Pintupi Australian aboriginal tribe. This striking and unique painting depicts the journeys of a group of Tingari men and women as they travelled from Tjukula in western Australia to Lake MacDonald or Karrkurritinytja. The Tingari are a group of mythical characters of the dreaming who travelled over vast stretches of country moving from waterhole to waterhole.
