Maurice Gibson is one of the Pintupi Aboriginal tribe. Painted at Desert Bore out-station, Kintore this work was explained by the artist as ‘In the Dreamtime, men fought at Wirrilina, west of Kintore in my fathers country’.
The central and western desert Aboriginals are unique in their representation of mythological Dreamtime events and beings, and this painting admirably demonstrates their ancient, and still living tribal traditions, in modern media.
