This carving is a good example of the Spanish naive style of the 16th century. the body and the face have retained noticeable traces of the original paint. the hair and crown of thorns well carved to delicately enfold the sorrowing head of Christ. The knot of the perzonium has been carved separately and attached, one hand has been lost due to old worming.
