This amulet represents the goddesses Isis, Nebhat and Horus as protectresses. It would have been worn in the centre of the chest or stomach together with a line of 'Zad' amulets.
In ancient Egypt amulets were put upon the dead to magically benefit them in a future existence. Amulets are worn all over the world by many different peoples and have the symbolic purpose, through sympathetic magic, of conferring qualities, of protection from danger, or both.
