Size : 8 cm high, 5 cm wide, 2.5 cm deep, - 3¼ ins high, 2 ins wide, 1 ins deep
c/f Stuttgart, Wurttembergishes Landes Museum Inventory No. : KK Blau 36, for a very similar carving of an Ivory Medici Venus with a dolphin and two cherubs.
Venus is the patron of all persuasive seductions between God's and mortals, and between men and women. Under the Roman empire Venus became one of the major divinities of the official pantheon.
