An Ancient Roman Bronze Fragment of an Arm

An Ancient Roman Bronze Fragment of an Arm
Probably from a statue of the young God Apollo
1st – 2nd Century A.D
Size : 30.5 cm long – 12 ins long
During the period of the Roman empire much Greek sculpture was still in existence, both in Greece and transplanted to Rome or elsewhere. Those who could not acquire the original and highly valued Greek works had to be content with Roman copies, which now survive to be admired and sought after in their own right. Many along with other free standing figures of various types in both bronze and marble, were probably commissioned for private or Imperial houses and villas.
