An Yaka Wooden Stool in the form of a dog, Zaire

An Unusual Yaka Wooden Stool in the form of a dog.
Zaire, Central Africa
Early 20th Century
Size : 59 cm long , 19.5 cm wide , 14.5 cm high
The Yaka associate dogs with the hunt which is an exclusively male occupation and a source of male prestige, they are not considered by them as domestic pets.
This stool would have been made for a particular hunter and used solely by him. It has a fine old dry patina and seems to perfectly evoke the spirit of the hound.
