By trolling with these lure hooks from the stern of a canoe large Tunny and Bonito fish were caught . Captain Cook described the barbed trolling hooks attached to bamboo rods about 3 metres long with a line of the same length , as having no other bait than 'a tuft of flaxy stuff near the point.'
