This marvellous carved striated alabaster figure seated cross legged with his head uplifted in meditation , has the childlike face of the stone carvings of the Olmec's , but in the subtropical region of the Mexican Central Gulf coast around Vera Cruz a separate society developed with a distinct culture called Tajin . These figures are found amongst grave offerings ; a similar example to this can be found in the Brooklyn Museum , New York .
