A Very Unusual English Burr Oak and Vine Wood Side Table in the cottage orné or Swiss style

John Nash was the English pioneer of the cottage orné , the Royal Pavilion in Brighton being one of his masterworks . His interiors at the Swiss cottage at Cahir in Ireland contain many examples of this sort of furniture used as part of a romantic interpretation of a peasants cottage in a rural setting ; an example of the highpoint of the ‘picturesque’ movement .
