Size : 11cm high , 7.5 cm dia. – 4¼ ins high , 3 ins dia.
Mounted cups , jugs , and bowls were popular from early mediaeval times . Wood , coconuts , ostrich eggs , rock crystal , mother of pearl , serpentine and rare porcelain from the East , were all made into useful or ornamental vessels by the addition of brass , silver or gold mounts . Often highly prized as magical objects made of rare materials from far away lands these items survived the centuries in cabinets of curiosities .
