Provenance : Frank Shute was the eldest son of a large family from Nuneaton, Warwickshire and travelled to America in the early 1870's. He took up residence in Monroe county, Wisconsin and collected Native American artefacts which he sent back to his father A. Shute in England. The collection was inherited by Frank Shute's youngest brother Frederick Thomas Shute (1875-1962) and thence by descent.
